Manawatu African Drumming (MAD!)

A community drumming group, meeting fortnightly in Palmerston North, led by Jennifer Moss. Sessions are for 16+, beginners are always most welcome. Fee for term is $40. Manawatu Community Choir

The Manawatu Community Choir aims to provide all people, whatever their background or ability, with an opportunity to sing together and celebrate the warmth and vitality generated through music making. Anyone can come and sing in the choir at any time; there are no auditions, no requirement to 'read' music and no complicated membership formalities. If you can walk in the door, you're in the choir! We specialise in learning and performing vocal music from different traditions around the world. Led by talented musician Jennifer Moss, we have singers at many levels of experience and are a very friendly bunch. Choir meets Mondays (during school term) 7pm-9pm at Wesley Centre Hall, 264 Broadway, Palmerston North. There is parking on Broadway and also parking in Main Street car park (Methodist Social Services) immediately behind the Centre. Pop in for the casual rate of $5 or the discount rate of $40 for the entire term.

Manawatu Ukulele Group (MUG!)

Manawatu Ukulele Group (MUG!) is a ukulele gathering for adults, based in Palmerston North facilitated by Jennifer Moss. MUG lite…beginner workshop, for adults (16+)…You will receive guidance into the basics (chords, strumming and techniques to get you started), support and encouragement. Your fee also enables you to come to two sessions of MUG Pro, to try out your new skills in the company of a very friendly group of strummers. You will be emailed all the material that we cover in the workshops. MUG Pro… for adults (16+) meeting every fortnight, where broaden our knowledge of chords, strums, finger picking with fun and accessible songs. You will receive practical help with your playing, and experience the joy of playing with a large group. You will be emailed all the material that we cover in the workshops. The Sue Pugmire Jazz Combo

A very popular band of outstanding musicians playing their special mix of Jazz spanning from the 1920's & 30's through to the present day. Their repertoire includes Latin rhythms, Swing, Jazz-Blues, Ballads & Standards through to Charlie Parker & his fast Bebop. Great for all ages & all events.
