New website for international students speaks their language
IEM (International Education Manawatu) today launched its new website, www.iem.net.nz, which can be accessed in English, Mandarin, Korean, Japanese, Thai and Portuguese.
Vision Manawatu’s Project Officer for international education Rossana Couto said, “The site provides a one-stop-shop for international students and education agents, giving them all the information they need about studying in the Manawatu.
“The website is part of our efforts to be more competitive in an increasingly mature market. It is much more user friendly than our old site, addressing students in their own language and containing more information. We will be able to update the site as required at no cost and monitor closely which countries enquiries are coming from. We will add extra languages if demand calls for it.”
International students in the Manawatu have mainly come from China, Korea and Japan. There are increasing numbers of Thai students and in March IEM will conduct a marketing campaign in Brazil to determine interest there. “In order not to be vulnerable to internal changes in any one country, it is important that we diversify our marketing to appeal to a wider range of countries and continents,” said Ms Couto.
Funding for the new website was provided by the Palmerston North City Council and IEM members.
